The PH LKN operated by KLM was a Lockheed L 1049H. The L 1049H was a version of the Super Constellation with a radar in the nose cone and additional fuel tanks at the tips of the wings. The Super Constellation was a development of the L 749 Constellation. And also a successful response to the Douglas DC 6. It made its first flight in 1950.
